🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH 🧟 - House of the Dead (2003)
by Petra Sielias on May 14, 2019
This 2003 monstrosity, directed by Uwe Boll, is glorious. The acting has more ham than an Italian deli, the editing makes no sense whatso-fucking-ever, the plot is non existent and this movie is probably one of the many, many reasons Hollywood is hesitant to invest in adaptations of computer games to the big screen.
Based (hotdog in a hallway-loosely) on the 1996 arcade lightgun game of the same title, this movie is about a group of people who take a party boat to an island (called Isla del Morte) and get stuck in a zombie uprising. My description right there already holds more water than the entire plot.
Yes, House of the Dead is terrible. It's an abomination upon cinema, yet I enjoy it every single time I watch it (I've watched it more than once. I'm a masochist, what can I say).
Uwe Boll is an interesting dude. He has the diarrhea version of Midas' touch when it comes to movies and anything he'll get near instantly turns to a luscious brown heap of steaming shit `He does it with an unbridled passion though that kind of makes me admire the man. If you get the chance, watch the documentary about this guy: Raging Boll. It's available in full on youtube.
