Red Eyed - Strain Sock

224,00 kr

This colorway is part of the April 2020 Clan of Igors installment.
It is based on the movie 'Night of the Lepus'.

I started this colorway, wondering why albino rabbits have red eyes, and that's when the colorway was born. As it turns out, the iris of a rabbit’s eye reflects light. Ordinarily, this light is reflected from pigments in the eye. If a rabbit has small and well-spaced melanin particles, they'll have blue eyes. Larger melanin particles lead to brown eyes.

Albinism however is caused by a lack of melanin, which means that albino rabbits do not have any particles to reflect. This means that the iris reflects light straight from the blood vessels. This is what gives white rabbits their red-eyed appearance.

And even though I don't believe the folk tale that eating carrots will make your eyesight any better, I think it sure as hell makes writing more fun.

To state the obvious: this pen is not food.

Strain Sock

Strain Sock is a high twist 2-fold plied yarn with 80% merino and 20% nylon. It's soft enough for next to skin garments and sturdy enough to last as socks. We love the look of this yarn, since it reminds us of helixes and the stitch patterns come out crisp and beautiful.

Fiber contents: 80% fine superwash merino | 20% Nylon
Weight per skein: 100 grams | 3,5 oz
Running Length: 365 meters | 399 yards
Yarn Type: Fingering weight / 4-ply (2-ply spun!)

This listing is for 1 skein of yarn. Photo of multiple skeins shows a comparison between yarn bases and/or skeins.

Colors may slightly vary on every monitor due to settings. This means that the color may differ a little bit in real life from what you see on screen.

QUANTITY DISCOUNTS

All purchases of 5 skeins or more are eligible for a 5% discount using discount code: SIZEUP

As a fat fabulous creature, I (Aiden) know how hard it can be to source enough yarn to make myself a sweater. What takes the 'average' person 4 - 5 skeins, takes me at least 6 and usually around 8 skeins. (I'm between a 134 cm / 54 inch torso circumference).
It makes knitting or crocheting garments with hand dyed yarn a pretty costly adventure, which is why I am now offering discounts for yarn quantities that are above average.

This discount applies to all of our hand dyed yarns (that are not on sale), and can be combined between bases and colorways. You could make that top that uses a bajillion colors, or just pick the skeins for a single color project.

I'm not plus size. Can I use these discount codes?
Yes!
We will not police purchases and I will not exclude people from this discount based on their size. Hell, I encourage everyone who wants to use these codes for their 5+ skein purchases to use it. The economy is tight enough as it is and society already does enough excluding, no need for me to tack on some more.
