Fiber Blends

Our fiber blends contain 100 g (3.5 oz) of fiber and are put together with handspinners in mind. The fibers, colors, and staple lengths are selected to work well together while still giving you plenty of freedom in how you prepare and spin them.

Preparing and spinning

Spin the fiber as supplied, split it into strips, make rolags, or card it into a batt. Carding will blend the colors more thoroughly, while spinning directly from the preparation will preserve more of the original color placement.

Aiden usually splits the fiber into long strips and spins from the fold, but there is no single right way to work with a blend.

Other uses

Fiber blends can also be used for felting, weaving, and other suitable fiber crafts.

Superwash and care

Our fiber blends are non-superwash unless the individual product listing specifically says otherwise. Untreated wool can felt with moisture, heat, and agitation.

For finished objects, hand wash gently in cold water and avoid unnecessary agitation unless felting is intentional. When setting handspun yarn, use a method appropriate for the fibers in that particular blend.

How your fiber arrives

Fiber blends are packed as loose lengths of fiber rather than braided, helping to avoid unnecessary compression before they reach you. Product photos may show the fiber braided for presentation only.
