Undercover Otter does not choose to use (generative) AI as part of its creative process, product development, dyeing, customer service, or business decision-making.

We believe that artists, writers, translators, developers, makers, and workers in general deserve fair pay for their labour, skill, and time. We also believe that the negative environmental impact associated with generative AI, especially in the context of the ongoing climate crisis, is deeply concerning. For these reasons, the use of generative AI in its current form directly contradicts our ethical values.

Undercover Otter actively avoids AI tools wherever possible. However, some third-party software, platforms, or services we rely on may include AI-assisted features as part of their systems. Where this is the case, we take care to ensure that customer data, order details, personal information, and confidential business information are not made accessible to AI tools unless appropriate privacy and data protection safeguards are in place.

Where third-party software includes optional AI features, Undercover Otter disables or avoids those features where reasonably possible. We also review privacy and data-sharing settings in the software we use to reduce the risk of customer data, order details, personal information, or confidential business information being processed by AI tools.

Undercover Otter does not knowingly use generative AI to create product designs, colourways, product photography, product descriptions, marketing copy, patterns, customer service replies, or other creative or commercial content.

Undercover Otter does not use AI to make automated decisions about customers, orders, returns, withdrawal requests, refunds, eligibility, legal rights, or access to our services.

All creative work, dyeing, product development, customer communication, and business decisions remain human-led.
